Executive thesis
Atlassian just delivered one of the strongest quarters in its recent history. Revenue reached approximately $1.8 billion, up 28% year over year. Cloud revenue accelerated to approximately $1.2 billion, up 31%. Subscription ARR reached $6.6 billion, up 23%, and remaining performance obligations increased 44% to $4.8 billion.
The market reacted violently. TEAM shares jumped roughly 35% after the results.
At first glance, that kind of one-day move should make investors more cautious. It certainly reduces the margin of safety compared with the price before earnings.
But Foxorox remains bullish on Atlassian.

The post-earnings rally does not invalidate the long-term investment case.
We believe the market is beginning to reprice Atlassian from an
"AI victim" toward a potential AI infrastructure layer for enterprise work.
The strongest evidence is not simply Rovo adoption.
It is the combination of:
Cloud +31% + RPO +44% + larger enterprise deals + Teamwork Graph + faster ARR expansion among AI adopters.

BULLISH AFTER THE RALLY
1. What Atlassian actually does
Atlassian is one of the most deeply embedded software vendors in modern engineering, technology and enterprise collaboration workflows.
Its product ecosystem includes:
- Jira – project and software development workflow management,
- Confluence – enterprise knowledge and documentation,
- Jira Service Management – IT service management,
- Loom – asynchronous video communication,
- Trello – visual work management,
- Bitbucket – code hosting and developer collaboration,
- Rovo – AI-powered enterprise search, assistance and agents,
- and increasingly the Teamwork Graph as the contextual layer connecting all of this data.
Historically, the investment case was relatively easy to understand: more software teams, more developers, more projects and more collaboration meant more Jira and Confluence usage.
Then generative AI changed the narrative.
2. The bear case was simple: AI could reduce software seats
The software market began to worry that AI coding tools would eventually reduce the number of developers and knowledge workers required to complete the same amount of work.
That created a direct concern for seat-based software companies.
The bearish logic:
AI coding agents → higher developer productivity → fewer human seats needed
→ slower Jira / Confluence seat growth → lower software revenue growth.
This is not an irrational concern. Traditional SaaS companies historically monetized human users. If one AI agent can perform work previously completed by several employees, the number of human seats can become a weaker growth driver.
But Atlassian may be developing a business model that turns that threat into an advantage.
3. Q4 FY2026 changed the narrative
The latest quarter was extremely strong across the metrics that matter most.

The most important part of this table is not the headline revenue beat. It is the combination of Cloud acceleration and RPO growth.
Revenue increased 28%. RPO increased 44%.
That means contracted future revenue is expanding significantly faster than recognized current revenue.
RPO +44% is one of the strongest reasons Foxorox remains bullish. It indicates that large customers are signing larger and longer commitments, even while investors remain worried about AI destroying traditional SaaS economics.
4. Enterprise is becoming a much bigger part of the story
Atlassian historically grew with an unusually efficient bottom-up sales model. Individual engineering teams adopted Jira and Confluence, then usage spread across organizations.
The company is now becoming increasingly capable of selling large platform commitments directly into major enterprises.
In Q4 FY2026 Atlassian reported:
- an all-time record quarter for $1M+, $3M+ and $5M+ ACV deals,
- customers with more than $3M ARR growing more than 50% year over year,
- customers with more than $5M ARR growing more than 70% year over year,
- and the largest enterprise contract in Atlassian's history.

This matters because Atlassian does not need every future growth dollar to come from new customer acquisition. It can increasingly expand monetization inside an already enormous installed base.
5. Rovo may be turning AI from a threat into an expansion engine
Atlassian says more than 80% of Fortune 500 companies now use Rovo. But adoption alone is not the most important metric. Depth of usage is.
Rovo assisted actions increased more than 50% quarter over quarter. More importantly, Atlassian disclosed that customers adopting Rovo are:
- completing approximately 20% more Jira work items,
- creating or editing approximately 25% more Confluence pages,
- and growing ARR more than 2x faster than non-adopters.
This is the most important reversal of the original AI bear thesis: AI usage is currently associated with higher platform activity and faster customer expansion, not lower monetization.
If this relationship persists, AI could increase Atlassian's ARPU and platform depth even if the number of human seats grows more slowly.
6. The Teamwork Graph may be the real moat
Rovo itself is not necessarily the moat. Large language models are becoming increasingly commoditized. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and other model providers are all improving rapidly.
The more interesting asset is Atlassian's Teamwork Graph.
The Teamwork Graph connects enterprise context across multiple dimensions:
- knowledge,
- work,
- communications,
- code,
- assets,
- and people.
Atlassian says its graph now includes more than:
200 billion objects and connections
That can include projects, tickets, documents, code repositories, pull requests, meetings, conversations, goals, service assets and organizational relationships.
A general-purpose AI model may be extremely intelligent. But it does not automatically understand why a Jira issue from eighteen months ago was closed, which Confluence architecture decision caused it, what code was changed, who approved that decision and which current project depends on it.
That enterprise context is difficult to recreate.
7. Why context may become more valuable as models become cheaper
The AI market is heavily focused on model intelligence. But intelligence itself may become increasingly commoditized.
If model quality from multiple vendors converges and token costs continue falling, the valuable layer can shift from the model toward:
proprietary enterprise context + permissions + workflow + orchestration + audit trail.
This is exactly where Atlassian is positioned.
The company reports that agents grounded in the Teamwork Graph can produce up to 44% more accurate answers while consuming approximately 48% fewer tokens in certain internal/customer measurements.

If enterprise AI becomes increasingly agentic, this context layer may become more valuable, not less.
8. Jira may become a control plane for AI agents
One of the most interesting strategic changes is that Jira is no longer limited to coordinating human work.
Atlassian is increasingly positioning Jira as the orchestration layer for humans and agents.
The company is integrating:
- AI agents directly into Jira workflows,
- Claude and Cursor into issue execution,
- a Jira Coding Agent,
- agent sessions and audit trails,
- Rovo-generated Jira work items,
- and MCP access to enterprise context.
This creates a different future from the one implied by the original SaaS bear case.
The future may not be "fewer developers means less Jira." It may be "each human developer supervises more AI agents, and all of those agents still require coordination, permissions, context and auditability."
If that happens, Jira could become more strategically important in an agentic enterprise.
9. The headline FY2027 guidance looks bad
Now we reach the part of the report that initially appears bearish.

The headline is therefore:
28% Q4 revenue growth → only ~13% FY2027 revenue growth.
If that were a clean underlying deceleration across the entire business, the bull thesis would be much weaker.
But it is not.
10. The 13% number is distorted by Data Center
Atlassian is transitioning customers away from Data Center toward Cloud. The company also previously announced the Data Center end-of-life roadmap, which caused some customers to pull forward Data Center purchases.
That creates an unusual accounting and timing effect.
FY2027 Data Center revenue is expected to decline approximately 17%, while Cloud revenue is still expected to grow approximately 25.5%.
Subscription ARR is expected to grow approximately 18%.
Foxorox interpretation:
The 13% total revenue guide understates the health of the strategic Cloud business.
The cleaner indicators are Cloud growth, subscription ARR, RPO and enterprise expansion.
This does not mean the deceleration should be ignored. ARR growth of 18% is lower than the 23% achieved in FY2026, so some real moderation is present.
But the situation is meaningfully better than a simple reading of "growth collapses from 28% to 13%."
11. Q1 FY2027 guidance is stronger than the full-year headline
For Q1 FY2027 Atlassian guided:

Cloud is therefore expected to remain close to 30% growth in the first quarter. That is not the profile of a company whose core business has suddenly stopped working.
12. Profitability is becoming real
Atlassian historically accepted very low GAAP profitability while reinvesting aggressively in product development, cloud migration and enterprise sales.
That is changing.
The company delivered a 12% GAAP operating margin in Q4 FY2026. Full-year FY2026 free cash flow was approximately $1.3 billion, representing roughly a 20% margin.
This is strategically important because Atlassian can increasingly fund its AI expansion, enterprise sales organization and product development internally.
A software company combining 20%+ strategic growth rates with rising free cash flow is a very different investment from a growth company that still depends on external capital.
13. Why the FY2027 margin guide declines
Atlassian guides to approximately 25% non-GAAP operating margin in FY2027, below the unusually high Q4 FY2026 level.
Part of this reflects continued spending on AI and enterprise go-to-market. The company is also changing elements of employee compensation, increasing the cash component relative to stock-based compensation.
This can depress non-GAAP operating metrics while reducing future dilution.
For shareholders, that trade-off is not necessarily negative. Cash compensation is economically real, but persistent stock dilution is also economically real.
14. The valuation has changed dramatically after earnings
Before the results, TEAM had been heavily de-rated. The stock then jumped approximately 35% in a single session.
That means the stock is no longer as obviously cheap as it was before earnings.
However, traditional GAAP P/E remains a poor way to value Atlassian because GAAP EPS is still depressed by stock-based compensation and the company's accounting structure.
For this business, EV/Revenue, EV/EBITDA and especially EV/FCF are currently more informative.

Valuation ratios are approximate market-consensus snapshots and can change rapidly with share price and analyst estimate revisions. They should be refreshed before publication.
15. Why P/E makes Atlassian look worse than it may actually be
MarketScreener consensus data shows GAAP P/E remaining very high in FY2027 and FY2028, because GAAP net income is still relatively small compared with Atlassian's market capitalization.
That can produce seemingly absurd P/E multiples above 100x even while:
- revenue exceeds $6 billion,
- free cash flow exceeds $1 billion,
- net cash continues growing,
- and the business is generating substantial non-GAAP operating profit.
This does not mean investors should ignore GAAP economics. Stock-based compensation is a genuine cost to shareholders.
But using only GAAP P/E can obscure the underlying cash-generating capacity of a mature SaaS platform.
16. A simple Foxorox valuation framework
Rather than relying on one multiple, we would value Atlassian across three scenarios.

The key question is therefore not whether Atlassian is "cheap" on a simple P/E basis. It is whether Teamwork Graph and enterprise AI can keep Cloud growth elevated long enough for free cash flow to compound into the current valuation.
Foxorox currently believes the answer can be yes.
17. Why the rally does not automatically mean the stock is expensive
A 35% one-day rally feels extreme. But the percentage move needs context.
The stock had already been heavily de-rated before earnings, as investors priced in a major slowdown and the possibility that AI would structurally weaken traditional collaboration software.
The rally therefore represented a partial reversal of a bearish narrative, not necessarily the creation of a new speculative bubble.
A stock can rise 35% and still be undervalued if the earnings report changes the probability distribution of future outcomes by more than 35%.
The Q4 report materially improved evidence for:
- enterprise adoption,
- Cloud durability,
- AI monetization,
- RPO growth,
- and operating leverage.
That is why Foxorox does not interpret the entire post-earnings move as mere momentum.
18. The most important metric may be Rovo customer economics
AI usage metrics are usually easy to promote and difficult to value. "Users tried our AI product" is not a business model.
The crucial metric is whether AI adoption leads to greater customer spending.
Atlassian says Rovo adopters are growing ARR more than twice as fast as non-adopters. The company also says MCP adopters expand paid seats faster and are significantly stickier.
If those relationships remain durable, Rovo is not just a product feature. It is an expansion engine.
That would justify a very different valuation framework from the idea that AI merely cannibalizes human software seats.
19. The hidden optionality: AI agents become users too
Traditional SaaS economics were built around human seats. Agentic SaaS may evolve around a combination of:
- human seats,
- AI credits,
- agent usage,
- workflow volume,
- automation consumption,
- context retrieval,
- and platform-level orchestration.
This could significantly expand Atlassian's monetization surface.
Teamwork Collection customers already use more than twice as many AI credits per user and deploy roughly twice as many active agents as standalone customers, according to the company's Q4 shareholder letter.
This suggests that collections and AI can reinforce each other.
20. Why Teamwork Graph is strategically different from a chatbot
A chatbot can be replaced. A deeply embedded enterprise graph is harder to replace.
The Teamwork Graph accumulates value as:
- more Jira issues are created,
- more Confluence pages are written,
- more code repositories are connected,
- more Slack, Teams and email data are linked,
- more agents act through Atlassian workflows,
- and more relationships between people, work and assets are inferred.
This creates a potential data flywheel.
More enterprise activity → richer context → better AI outputs → more AI usage → more work performed through Atlassian → even richer context.
If this flywheel develops at scale, the moat can become stronger even while foundational AI models become more commoditized.
21. Atlassian's strongest competitive advantage may be neutrality
Atlassian does not need to build the world's best foundation model.
It can integrate multiple frontier models while owning the enterprise workflow and context layer.
This can be strategically attractive because enterprise customers may not want all of their workflow intelligence tied to a single model vendor.
Jira can coordinate work. Confluence can store knowledge. Teamwork Graph can provide context. Rovo can orchestrate AI interactions.
The underlying model can evolve.
That architecture potentially allows Atlassian to benefit from improvements in OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and other model providers rather than having to outspend them on model training.
22. The bull case
The strongest Atlassian scenario looks like this:
- Cloud remains above 20% growth for several years,
- enterprise contracts continue increasing in size,
- Teamwork Collection drives higher ARPU,
- Rovo monetization expands,
- AI agents increasingly operate through Jira,
- Teamwork Graph becomes a context layer across enterprise applications,
- free cash flow margins expand,
- and Data Center headwinds disappear after the migration period.
Under that scenario the present FY2027 headline revenue slowdown becomes a transitional accounting story, not the beginning of secular decline.
The stock could then continue rerating toward a higher-quality enterprise platform multiple.
23. The bear case
The bearish case should not be ignored.
Several things could go wrong:
- Cloud growth could fall much faster than management expects,
- Rovo usage may not convert into durable monetization,
- Microsoft, ServiceNow, Salesforce or other platforms could own more enterprise AI context,
- AI agents could reduce human software seats faster than Atlassian monetizes agent usage,
- stock-based compensation could remain structurally high,
- the enterprise sales buildout could reduce operating leverage,
- and the post-earnings rally leaves less room for disappointment.
The most important near-term risk is simply expectations. After a 35% rally, another merely "good" quarter may no longer be sufficient.
The stock is less forgiving now than it was before earnings. Bullish does not mean risk-free.

25. Foxorox investment conclusion
Atlassian is not the same stock after the post-earnings rally. The margin of safety is smaller. Expectations are higher.
But the underlying investment case has also improved.
Q4 FY2026 provided evidence that:
- Cloud growth remains strong,
- enterprise customers are expanding commitments,
- RPO is growing far faster than reported revenue,
- Rovo adoption is associated with greater platform engagement,
- AI adopters are expanding ARR faster,
- Teamwork Graph is becoming a differentiated enterprise context asset,
- and Atlassian is generating meaningful free cash flow while funding AI investment.
The FY2027 headline guidance of approximately 13% total revenue growth looks weak. But Cloud is expected to grow approximately 25.5%, while the Data Center business is expected to shrink approximately 17% during the transition to Cloud.
This is a very different situation from a broad-based collapse in demand.
Foxorox final thesis:
We remain BULLISH ON ATLASSIAN
even after the approximately 35% post-earnings rally.
The stock is no longer as cheap as it was before the report,
but the probability that Atlassian can become a major enterprise AI workflow and context layer
has increased materially.
The market originally feared:
AI → fewer workers → fewer SaaS seats.
The emerging Atlassian model may instead become:
AI → more agents → more workflows → more enterprise context → more orchestration → higher platform value.
If Teamwork Graph becomes the context layer through which humans and AI agents coordinate enterprise work, Atlassian may ultimately be worth more in the agentic AI era than it was in the pre-AI SaaS era.
That is the reason Foxorox remains bullish despite the rally.
